Even if life doesn’t give you lemons, make lemonade.

30 Jan

Lemons are great for your skin and body.  They are an excellent source of vitamin C, which does wonders for your skin, and also good for digestion.  Drinking a glass of lemon water a day is quite healthy and given the simplicity of it, I’ve replaced  my afternoon tea with a glass of lemonade instead.

Q: What do you give an injured lemon?
A: Lemonaid.

Ingredients: Serves 1.
  • 1/2 lemon
  • Trader Joe’s Blue Agave Sweetener (or sugar), to taste – a liquid sweetener is best as raw sugar tends to stick to the bottom of the glass
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 ice cubes
Assembly:
  1. Slice the lemon into a few pieces.
  2. In a cup, squeeze 1/2 a lemon using your hand or a juicer.
  3. Use a spoon to remove any seeds from the cup.
  4. Fill the rest of the cup with cold water.
  5. Add ice cubes.
  6. Add sweetener, to taste.
  7. Mix well.
PRITY IDEAS:
  • Garnish with a lemon slice.
PRISERVE:
  • Have extra lemons? Lemon juice does wonders for your skin.  I abandoned store-bought toners awhile ago and now use lemon juice.  After washing my face, I apply the lemon juice to a cotton swab and dab it on my face.  I leave it on overnight.  I do this only 3x a week as lemon juice can dry out your skin if you overdo it.  I absolutely love this natural toner as it gets rid of blemishes and makes your skin gorgeous!

If you add a few leaves of mint in the lemonade then it will have even fresher taste. Learned that from Brazil
