Broccoli and Tofu in Hot Garlic Sauce

Broccoli is not something most sane people enjoy eating plain.  But – no one can deny the health benefits of broccoli and therefore, I was determined to find a way to make it taste good.  This recipe is great because the Asian sauces soak into the florets, enhancing the blandness and giving the florets an unbelievably delicious taste.

Ingredients:  Serves 4.
  • 8 oz. diced firm tofu
  • 25 individual broccoli florets (or 2 ½ cups)
  • 8 cloves chopped garlic
  • ½ diced red onion
  • 4 stems sliced green onions
  • ½ cup roasted & unsalted cashew pieces (good for your hair & skin!)
  • 2 tbsp. House of Tsang Szechuan Spicy Stir-Fry Sauce
  • 5 tbsp. Kikoman Less Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 4 tbsp. Trader Joe San Soyaki $2.99
  • 2 tsp. cooking oil
Assembly:
  1. In a bowl, mix sauces: 2 tbsp. szechuan, 4 tbsp. soy and 4 tbsp. soyaki.
  2. Heat 2 tsp. oil in a saucepan on medium heat.
  3. Add the onions and garlic.  Sautee until light brown on low heat.
  4. Add tofu and cook for 3 minutes.
  5. Add broccoli florets, cashews, and sauce.
  6. Increase heat to medium-high and cook for 7-10 minutes.
Serving suggestions:
  • Serve over a bowl of rice noodles or rice.
PRITY IDEAS:
  • Garnish with green onions.
